Short Bio

Full Bio
Douglas P. Murphy has spent a quarter century writing and performing original music rooted in Americana, blues, Acoustic Guitar Roots Rock, and world-wide influences. A guitar player from Texas, he eventually landed in New York City. He has toured nationally, playing for crowds in a 15,000-seat arena, and playing crappy dive bars where the only listeners were the bartender and barback. His catalog spans gritty rock anthems, country ballads, and emotional folk — songs built for big voices. If you are a singer or producer looking for a song that can showcase your power, many of these songs fit the bill. Check it out!
Press Quotes
The kind of songwriter who makes you feel like you've heard the song before — in the best possible way. He played here once a month for over a year. We love the music!
The Bitter End, NYCWe hired him on Wednesday for a Friday night gig at a blues club. He did not know any of the songs. I would call out the key, and he is able to fit in and deliver funky rhythms and smoking leads. 5 Stars!
Rooster Blues Band, NYCI had seen him play before at a festival. It was exciting to have him here and his songs had the entire crowd dancing - and drinking - and having a blast. He owns the room from the first chord.
